For-Credit Summer Courses
Summer at the Hall will offer several different courses for high-school credit at Saint Mary’s Hall. Among those offered during the summer of 2009 are Genetics, Pre-calculus, Color Mania and Geometry. Preparatory Courses Summer is a great time for students to take prep and refresher courses., so look for math, writing and into classes for more information. Verbal and math prep courses for the SAT will be offered in addition to the standard academic and for-credit courses. Introduction classes are offered for incoming SMH Montessori students specifically tailored to ease transition into the Montessori classroom. Kindergarten and First Form students make big changes when stepping up, so our SMH teachers have designed courses for those transitions as well. Day Camps Offered for children ages 3 - 5 in weekly themed camps to provide a variety of fun experiences for our youngest campers. These camps are well-supervised, educational and fun. Half-Day Enrichment Camps For students from grades 1 - 6 which run from 9-11:30 a.m. or 12:30-3:00 p.m. A variety of academic/enrichment and fun camps are offered all summer long. Students may select a golf camp in the morning and an art camp in the afternoon. With this type of a variety campers get a well-rounded fun packed summer experience. Early Childhood Programs Especially designed for the younger students at Summer at the Hall, (ages 4 - 6 years) this session provides academic teaching and reinforcement in the areas of language arts, math, science, the arts (music and crafts), and foreign language, in a fun activity based camps are based on thematic units. Supervised Lunch Is provided for full-day campers who bring a sack lunch or purchase lunch for the week ($35). Lunches may consist of chicken nuggets, grilled cheese sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. Students who buy lunch will also be provided The Extended Care Program Provides care for children enrolled in Summer at the Hall before and after our summer programs (7:15-9:00 a.m.) and (3:00-6:00 p.m.) Students will enjoy relaxed recreational activities including games, snack and outdoor play. Campers arriving on campus more than 15 minutes prior to camp start or more than 15 minutes after scheduled camp time will be escorted and enrolled in our Extended Care Program Swim Club An alternative to Extended Care for campers and students who love to swim! The pool will be open from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. for enrolled campers to come play water games, listen to jammin’ music. Swim Club is staffed with well-trained CPR and lifeguard certified instructors at all time. Private swimming lessons will also be available this summer! So be sure to get a catalog and register early! Sports Camps Include basketball, golf, tennis and soccer. In addition, Saint Mary's Hall summer sports programs have a longstanding tradition of excellence. The Alamo Lacrosse Camp is one such camp. Under the coaching of Mark Richards and in its 15th year of operation, it is the oldest Lacrosse camp in San Antonio. In addition, SMH has been host to the San Spurs and Silver Stars Basketball Camps for the past five years. Security Saint Mary’s Hall ‘s gated campus is maintained 24 hours per day, and is a point of pride for the SMH community. |
